Volkswagen Passat CC
The Volkswagen Passat CC is available from € 33,050. This price corresponds to the version that carries a gasoline engine of 160 hp . Unlike what happens with the range Passat, Passat CC is not available with different levels of equipment, but that each client can increase equipment with a list of options.
A Passat “normal” with the same engine and 160 hp version ‘Highline’ costs € 29,970, although, matching the equipment the difference between the two is reduced to about 1,800 €.
Of those 1,800 € more, offers a Volkswagen Passat with a different body design (has a certain air coupe) and less functional (four seats instead of five), and the ability to mount some elements of optional equipment that day Today you can not have another, as the system of alert change unintentional lane, the developer of active speed, variable suspension or some tires with special protection antipinchazo.
The idea of the Volkswagen Passat CC is similar to that of Mercedes-Benz CLS: a saloon, derived from another saloon, done for those who may feel attracted by the silhouette of a coupe but want four doors and do not need to carry more than two people in the rear seats.
All Passats have CC series of suspension “sport” that leaves the body 15 mm closer to the ground and a wider wheels (235/45 R17). Alternatively, you can have a variable suspension hardness (DCC), the unit we tested had mounted this element.

Range engines
Currently, the engine range consists of three variants of petrol and two Diesel. Gasoline engines are a 1.8 TSI 160 hp, a 2.0 TSI 200-hp and 299 hp 3.2 V6 (the latter is necessarily linked to a system of traction at all). The Diesel are 2.0 TDI 140 hp or 170 hp (since August 2008), both through joint injection.
All engines are direct injection and, except on petrol 299 hp, all have turbocharger.
The less powerful versions, the diesel 140 hp and 160 hp gasoline, seem the most reasonable for normal use: with these engines, the Passat CC moves with all the agility required in most circumstances.
The advantage of benefits that has the option with the 3.6 litre engine 299 hp hardly be seen in a normal driving, but its consumption is much higher it in any case. Moreover, the hypothetical advantage of smoothness of operation that could have given it six cylinders, does not seem decisive respect to the petrol 160 hp or 200 hp, which also have a very smooth operation.

Rim Daytona 18 pulgadas.El only drawback is that the 1.8 TSI is that you can not have automatic change (perhaps later take this, the Audi A3 with this engine it takes you). The 140 diesel can it may take a change automatic choice ‘DSG’ six marches. The 3.6 FSI 4Motion is a series of similar, but six marches. The 2.0 TSI can not have a change ‘DSG’ (commentary), but a traditional automatic (Tiptronic).
A equal engine, the Passat CC has virtually the same data and consumer benefits that a conventional Passat.
Bodywork and equipment
The CC Passat is longer, wider and lower than a Passat. Volkswagen has also differentiated in the interior: the instrumentation, controls the air conditioning and steering wheel are different.
The interior is approved for four passengers. The two rear seats are individual seats , instead of a bench. A negative effect arising from the curvature and the lower height of the roof is that it has less space in the rear seats and access is worse than a Passat (need to crouch more). From the standpoint of the driver, the drawback of this body is that the visibility is worse in certain angles.
The doors have no frame (picture), a solution much more frequently found in cupés that four-door cars.
It has a number of innovative elements of equipment within Volkswagen and others who until now were not available within the range Passat.
Among the former is a system for keeping track ‘Lane Assist’ means this device can do a certain amount of force on the steering wheel to avoid the car passes the road markings which surround the lane (and more in our point of view technical), is designed to curb accidents on expressways by despistes.
Another novel are equipping tires with some protection antipinchazos, serial for all models (are not like ‘Run Flat’ assembling other manufacturers). More information about these tires. In addition, the spare wheel is the same size as the other four.
There is a suspension with variable adjustment of its hardness ( “DCC”, which is set for release V6 engine with 299 hp). This element can not have any other Passat.
Volkswagen has done with the Passat and Passat CC as well as with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and CLS: a car with a design more attractive (for as long as we have had I have not heard anyone say otherwise) at the expense limiting the interior space and functionality.
The loss of space occurs mainly in the height available in the rear seats. A person up to 1.75 m can feel comfortable ago, but since then two things happen: that slashing their heads with the roof (especially if it is sitting upright) and the headrest is too low. In a Passat this does not happen
Volkswagen Passat CC Review
That has two seats behind individual has the advantage that its occupants are better subjects in a bench bullfight. Between the two seats is a console for depositing objects persianilla closed by a roller.
Volkswagen Passat CC. Model 2008. Habitáculo.Los rear two seats can be heated but do not have any kind of adjustment (or electric or manual).
The front seats are semajantes to a Passat but has given me the impression that the seat is lower. Whether that is true or not, enter and leave the front seats has proved embarrassing to several people (of varying size and age) that we have risen to it because the sidewalk is low, there is a large distance to the outside and lugs side of the seat does not facilitate the movement.
The front seats are standard adjusted manually (except the driver’s seat-back, which is electric). The subject is providing very good and are not uncomfortable to travel.
Alternatively there are regulations for all electrical adjustments (height, distance and driving, seat-back and the sidewalk), with memory for the driver. Since August 2008 there is also a heating and ventilation system for the front seats.
The instrumentation, controls the air conditioning and steering wheel (there are three different) are different from those of a Passat.
Our test unit had a steering wheel that appears in this picture and that is the same as that may have the Golf 2009. This leaflet has some new controls to handle functions that displays the screen is on the table of instruments (computer and various functions of the car, like opening doors or outdoor light to open or close it with the command), the phone or the sound equipment.
The commanders of the air conditioning are the same as has the Skoda Superb and the new Golf. With regard to who has the Passat normal in the CC (picture) is more difficult to read the selected temperature (picture). The automatic mode has two programs that are differentiated by the air flow that drives the fan.
Volkswagen Passat CC. Model 2008. Salpicadero.En general, all the controls are placed within reach and visible hand. The exception are those next to the gear selector to the right of it, and acting on the control system of air leak, the adaptive suspension and electric rear bumper. The first and last element is little used and therefore does not strike me as an inconvenience that are located there, it seems to me a mistake placement of the suspension: the absence of any witness in the instrument panel about the program in which is (Normal, Sport or Comfort) is almost impossible to see text that is illuminated on the key.
In the dashboard there are decorative elements in wood or polished aluminium, and can be ordered a package of special interior lighting ( “package environment”).
The bags of the front doors are smaller than those of a standard Passat. In fact in the Passat CC can be stretched a little bottles of water and on the other there is room to move vertically a bottle of 1.5 litres.
With a panoramic glass roof is lost sunglasses holder that goes in front of ceiling lights. It occupies almost all the front seats (has a surface of 0.84 sq metres, 750 mm x 1,120 mm) and can be lifted but not open.
The trunk has a volume of 532 l. It is a very large volume (more than a Passat) because Volkswagen has given this information including the hole for the spare wheel. In Spain the Passat CC spare wheel is the same size as the other four (which is a very good idea); in other markets does not lead. The trunk is connected to the passenger compartment by a hatch that lets you enter long objects.
Other items of equipment are the new browser RNS 510 (premiered at the Tiguan) that includes a touch screen and hard drive. You can have a system to help with camera in the parking area back (hidden in the emblem of Volkswagen, image) and guides that make it easier to maneuver. This system takes value in a car as the Passat CC, where the visibility is very limited backwards.
The Volkswagen Passat CC has the poise itself for big cars designed to travel. With the variable suspension damping (optional) there is a big difference between programs running “Sport” and “Comfort”. With the ‘Sport’ selected, the suspension of the Passat CC loses much of its absorption capacity and transmits the state’s strong sharpness with the occupiers, something happens to a much lesser extent with the “Comfort”.
The difference in comfort between the two programs I have found much higher than that in stability there, so how ‘Sport’ only if I find interesting is going to lead to a very fast pace along a road with asphalt is perfectísimo state.
There is a third suspension of the program, called “Normal”, with a level of harshness between the other two, and I have no clear to its usefulness. If you want comfort must be to make a mandatory program ‘Comfort’ if we want to reduce as much as possible the swing that you use is the ‘Sport’.
CC Vokwagen Passat 1.8 TSI 160 hp. Gray fog pearl effect. Daytona 18 pulgadas.Aun wheel when the program is selected smaller firm, the suspension reacts with dry before the irregularities that cause vertical movement of the body very quickly (for example, a change of asphalt with gap).
With the option of variable suspension, assisted by the leadership also changed as the program selected (greater opposition to shift the way ‘Sport’, with more Suevos’ Comfort ‘).
On the roads of many curves the Passat CC is also satisfactory if you are a car stable and with good touch. On the other hand, who look for a car with some flexibility (as may be a MAZDA6) will feel disappointed because it is not. A fast pace is easy to enter the curve, but once that is strongly supported, what is that subvire normal lot. I have found that the tires give little grip, rather because the rear axle does not help in any way to round the curve. In a Passat ‘normal’ is relatively easy to get a slip of the rear wheels to curb ahuecar or in a closed curve in the Passat CC is virtually impossible to do so.

In addition to lead briefly versions of 140 hp (diesel) and 299 hp (petrol) in the presentation, we have carefully tested the bearing the petrol engine 1.8 TSI 160 hp.
It is a very pleasant to drive, with an engine that pushes forcefully in a very comprehensive regime. Thanks to overfeeding system is not usually necessary to reduce a march to gain speed in normal conditions.
CC Vokwagen Passat 1.8 TSI 160 hp. Gray fog pearl effect. Rim Daytona 18 pulgadas.Si what we want is the maximum acceleration (eg make an overtaking occupy the shortest possible time the opposite lane) if we must always use the shifter: circulating in a turbo about 150 hp at 80 — 90 mph is usually sufficient to lose one or two marches, in which petrol engine must go down to three. That has to do it does not strike me as an inconvenience because the movement needs to be done with the arm is the same and also the acceleration we get this gasoline engine is higher.
Like the other supercharged engine with direct injection gasoline we’ve tested the Volkswagen Group, this also has similar operation which has a very smooth and progressive, just ‘broken’ because at the time of initiating the march has a small lack of momentum While not as sharp (magnitude and duration) and most turbo engines that are sold today.

Consumption of this release is reasonable for a car that weighs 1,430 kg. After travelling over 300 km highway with several major ports, at an average speed of 136 mph, consumption was 8.4 litres/100 km. In tours around town and has not spent more than 11 litres/100 km.
Tyres antipinchazos which has the Passat CC are manufactured by Continental, which refers to them as’ ContiSea.
There are few conventional tires, which had been added by the inner side of the banda rolling a layer of a product highly viscous. This product prevents the loss of air whenever the sharp object that is nailed in the banda rolling takes up about 5 mm in diameter.
According to Volkswagen this system prevents about 85% of punctures. The system does not protect from cuts in the flanks, something that increasingly more frequent in-especially in some roads, since manufacturers tend to put tires increasingly lower profile. The Passat series of CC has no spare wheel, or emergency, but you can add optional the same size as the other four.
Tyres’ Run Flat ‘are structurally and functionally different from those bearing the Passat CC: basically what we have are very few side reinforced to not hit the rim on the floor when it completely loses air pressure, thus are can continue the progress so during a certain amount of miles already low speed. Precisely, the rigidity of the flanks harms comfort is lost partly because the pier giving effect tyres.
Volkswagen said that the system ‘ContiSea’ is preferable to ‘Run Flat’ using other manufacturers for two reasons: the tyres’ ContiSea “are cheaper and the sides of the tire are more flexible, so you do not make the car more uncomfortable.
